A high-yielding Nanto/Berlikum hybrid from the Dutch firm Bejo Zaden, similar to the much-loved early and high-yielding Nandrin H hybrid. "Baltimore H is one of the earliest carrots of this type. The vegetative period is 100-105 days. Very versatile and can be grown for first fresh carrots or for summer and autumn harvests. The roots are large, juicy and intensely coloured. Ideal for salads and juicing. "Baltimore H grows very quickly and vigorously, so that it can also be grown as a second crop, sown in early June. Carrots for autumn harvest and storage should be sown in mid-May. It is recommended to sow fairly deeply, slightly less frequently, as the roots grow large and long. The hybrid produces strong, healthy, dark green leaves which are highly resistant to fungal and bacterial diseases. It adapts well to different soil types. Suitable for fresh consumption, canning and storage.
